    Italian industrial turnover, up 8.1% in July 2020

    In July 2020 turnover index increased by 8.1% compared to the previous month (+9.0% the domestic market and +6.5% in non-domestic market), says Istat.

    The average of the last three months rose by 11.1% compared to the previous three months (+14.1% in domestic market and +5.7% in non-domestic market).

    The industrial new orders index increased by 3.7% compared to June (+1.3% in domestic market and +7.4% in non-domestic market) and the average of the last three months rose by 14.8% compared to the previous three months (+21.6% in domestic market and +5.9% in non-domestic market).

    Latest Istat data show that in May 2020 the seasonally adjusted industrial production index increased by 42.1% compared with the previous month.

    The change of the average of the last three months with respect to the previous three months was -29.9%.

    The calendar-adjusted industrial production index decreased by 20.3% compared with May 2019 (calendar working days being 20 versus 22 days in May 2019).

    The unadjusted industrial production index decreased by 25.0% compared with May 2019.

    The pandemic emergency did not impact on the data collection of the survey for May 2020

    Istat shows that in April 2020 the seasonally adjusted industrial production index decreased by 19.1% compared with the previous month.

    The change of the average of the last three months with respect to the previous three months was -23.2%.

    The calendar adjusted industrial production index decreased by 42.5% compared with April 2019 (calendar working days being 21 versus 20 days in April 2019).

    The unadjusted industrial production index decreased by 40.7% compared with April 2019.

    Italy: Industrial new orders index decreased by 26.5% in March

    The seasonally adjusted industrial new orders index decreased by 26.5% compared to February (-29.9% in domestic market and -21.4% in non-domestic market), Istat shows.

    The first quarter decreased by 9.5% compared to the last quarter of 2019 (-12.2% in domestic market and -5.7% in non-domestic market).

    With respect to the same month of the previous year the calendar adjusted industrial turnover index decreased by 25.2% (-27.6% in domestic market and -20.7% in non-domestic market).

    Calendar working days in March 2020 were 22, one more than March 2019.

    The unadjusted industrial new orders index decreased by 26.6% with respect to the same month of the previous year (-29.3% in domestic market and -23.1% in non-domestic market).

    The seasonally adjusted volume turnover index (only for the manufacturing sector) decreased by 24.4% compared to the previous month; the first quarter decreased by 6.8% compared to the fourth quarter of the last year. The calendar adjusted volume turnover index decreased by 24.7% with respect to the same month of the previous year.

    In March 2020 the seasonally adjusted industrial production index decreased by 28.4% compared with the previous month. The change in the first quarter of this year with respect to the previous one was -8.4%.

    The calendar adjusted industrial production index decreased by 29.3% compared with March 2019 (calendar working days being 22 versus 21 days in March 2019).

    The unadjusted industrial production index decreased by 27.1% compared with March 2019.

    The index measures the monthly evolution of the volume of industrial production (excluding construction).
