    Ryanair restored over 60% of normal flight schedules from 1st August

    Ryanair announced it has restored over 60% of normal flight schedules from 1st August, following the successful resumption of its services at the end of June.

    Throughout July, Ryanair have flown 4.4 million customers to destinations across Europe.

    As Europe’s skies get busier and traveller confidence returns, Ryanair will continue to increase its flight frequencies throughout August with more than 1.600 routes and over 11.000 weekly flights across its network.

    The airline encourages all passengers to observe the healthy flying measures it has had in place since mid-May, including the mandatory use of facemasks and a reduced in-flight cashless service.

    Ryanair has launched a seat sale with fares available from just €19.99, for travel one way, only available on the Ryanair.com website.

    Ryanair announced the relaunch of the Bucharest to Timisoara route commencing 4 Sept and operating three times weekly, as part of  its Summer 20 schedule.

    To celebrate the relaunch of this route, Ryanair is offering seats one-way from €15.99, which must be booked by midnight, Saturday (2 Aug), only on the Ryanair website. 

    Ryanair’s Olga Pawlonka said: “Ryanair is delighted to announce the relaunch of its Bucharest to Timisoara route commencing 4 Sept and operating three times weekly. Romanian customers can now book a domestic trip to Timisoara, flying on the lowest fares with Ryanair, Europe’s favourite airline.

    Ryanair, €185m loss in the first quarter of 2020

    Ryanair reported a Q1 loss of €185m, compared to a previous year Q1 net profit of €243m. The past quarter was the most challenging in company’s 35 year history. 

    Covid-19 grounded the group’s fleet for almost 4 months (from mid-March to end June) as EU governments imposed flight or travel bans and widespread population lockdowns.

    During this time, group airlines repatriated customers and operated rescue flights for different EU governments, as well as flying a series of medical emergency/PPE flights across Europe. 

    On 1 July, the Ryanair resumed flights across the majority of the route network. The airline carrier expect to operate approx. 40% of the normal July schedule, rising to c. 60% in Aug. and 70% in September.

    At this time, the group expects 2021 traffic to fall by 60% (from 149m) to just 60m.

    Highlights of Ryanair Q1 performance

    • Over 99% of the fleet grounded from mid-March to end June.
    • Q1 traffic fell from 42m to 0.5m.
    • Group airlines operated repatriation, rescue & medical emergency flights.
    • Cash preservation prioritised – closing cash €3.9bn
    • Cost reduction measures being successfully implemented.
    • Successful return to flying implemented in late June.

    Ryanair announced a new route from Romania to Spain, commencing 28 March as part of its summer 2021 schedule.

    The new route will operate twice weekly from Bucharest to Palma de Mallorca.

    Ryanair is offering seats one-way from just €29.99 for travel in April and May, which must be booked by midnight, Wednesday (29 July), only on the Ryanair website.

    Ryanair announced a new route from the United Kingdom to Poland, commencing 27 October as part of its winter 2020 schedule.

    The new route will operate twice weekly from Manchester Airport to Poznan.

    Ryanair is offering seats one-way from just £24.99, which must be booked by midnight, Monday (13 July), only on the Ryanair website.

    Ryanair and its Irish pilots agree on a 20% pay cut

    Ryanair and its Irish pilots agree on a 4-year agreement which includes a 20% pay reduction, restored over 4 years, along with productivity improvements on rosters, flexible working patterns and annual leave.

    This agreement gives Ryanair a framework to flex its operation during the Covid-19 crisis and a pathway to recovery when the business returns to normal in the years ahead.

    Earlier this week BALPA and Ryanair UK pilots accepted a similar deal to save jobs also with 20% pay cuts and productivity improvements.

    Ryanair has also signed agreements with the Fórsa union for our Irish based cabin crew and the UNITE union for our UK cabin crew on up to 10% pay reductions, fully restored over 4 years as well as productivity improvements to save jobs.

    Over 1.000 daily Ryanair flights over Europe since 1 July

    Ryanair will operate over 1.000 daily flights across 200 European airports, restoring almost 90% of its pre-Covid-19 route network.

    Ryanair crew members and airport support teams are returning to work after the 3½ month Covid-19 shutdown.

    In line with the recommendations of EASA and the ECDC, Ryanair has introduced new health measures for both our crews and our passengers, which will minimise the risk of Covid-19.

    These include mandatory face masks/coverings, fewer check bags, cashless inflight services, and improved hygiene procedures.

    500.000 seats on sale

    Ryanair is releasing 500.000 seats on sale from just €19.99 one way for travel in late Aug & Sept.

    These fares are the lowest ever offered by Ryanair during the peak summer months and are avaible until midnight Fri 3 July.

    Ryanair wants EU to block €3.4bn ”illegal” state aid to KLM

    Ryanair called on the EU Commission ”to block the latest illegal” State Aid of €3.4bn to Dutch flag carrier KLM, which equates to a subsidy of €200 on behalf of every man, woman and child of Holland.

    The company shows that ”The Dutch Govt are great at preaching fiscal conservatism to other EU countries but when it comes to bailing out flag carrier airlines they write subsidy checks even faster than Mrs Merkel”.

    Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary said: “16 years after Air France’s takeover of KLM, every Dutch citizen now has to pay €200 each to prop-up Air France-KLM, while each French citizen will only pay a subsidy €100. For this €200 KLM subsidy, every Dutch man, woman and child could buy 5 flights with Ryanair, instead of paying for the failure and inefficiency at Air France-KLM.

    ”We call on the European Commission to block this subsidy doping to KLM, which will further reduce competition and consumer choice in the Dutch and French markets”, O’Leary completed.

    Ryanair announced it will open 67 routes to/from Austria commencing on Wed 1st July next, as part of Ryanair’s post Covid Summer 2020 schedule.

    Its Vienna base will offer 64 routes, including summer services to Palma, Rome, Faro & Athens, and many more.

    Ryanair will guarantee low fares for Austrian customers/visitors at prices which start from €9.99 one way.

    Following the reopening of Lauda’s Vienna A320 base on 1 July, Ryanair will operate to/from Vienna on a mixture of Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Since Lauda will become a wet lease provider for the Ryanair Group, the red brand will continue to fly over the skies of Austria from 1st July.

    Ryanair announced 26 routes from Dusseldorf and Stuttgart starting from July 1st.

    This routes include sunshine holidays to Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro & Spain, city breaks including Barcelona, Bologna, Copenhagen & Naples and business routes including Dublin, Milan & London.

    1000’s of seats from €29.99, are now available for booking until midnight Friday (19th Jun) for travel in July and August.

    Lauda will no longer offer scheduled services from Stuttgart and Dusseldorf

    Lauda, a Ryanair Group airline, will no longer offer scheduled services in its own name from Stuttgart and Dusseldorf. 

    Lauda customers who have booked flights to/from Stuttgart or Dusseldorf in July, Aug & Sept will be transferred free of charge to Ryanair flights on the same routes and the same day. 

    Customers who have booked Lauda flights to/from Stuttgart or Dusseldorf on different days to the Ryanair flights may also change to the Ryanair flight free of charge by using their Laudamotion reservation on Ryanair.com.

    All affected Lauda customers will be issued with an email notice of these changes today to advise them of their options.

    Ryanair announced it will restore over almost 200 routes to/from Poland and 20 routes to/from Romania commencing 1st July, as part of the summer 2020 schedule.

    Seat sale by midnight Monday, 22nd June

    Ryanair has launched a seat sale from 89 zl for travel in July 2020, which must be booked by midnight Monday (22nd June) in Poland and a a seat sale from €19.99 for travel in July and August 2020, which must be booked by midnight Monday (22nd June) in Romania.

    Ryanair to waive its flight change fee for travels in July & August

    Ryanair announced it will waive its flight change fee for all customers who book to travel in July & August in case their travel plans change.

    Ryanair plans to operate over 1.000 daily flights from 1 July.

    In order to provide as much confidence and flexibility as possible, Ryanair is now offering customers the following option:

    • From 10 June, customers who book to travel in July & August will be able to move their flights with zero change fee to travel until the 31 Dec 2020.
    • This flight date change will only apply to the route customers have already booked and trips must be completed before the 2020 year end.
