  • Restart Energy to invest $ 30 million in a 45 MW solar project in Romania

Restart Energy to invest $ 30 million in a 45 MW solar project in Romania

Restart Energy is to invest around 30 million dollars in developing a 45 MW solar project in Sărmășag village, Sălaj county.

The purchased project is in the ”ready to build” phase, and the money will be invested in construction works. The company estimates that the park will start to function in Q1 2022.

This 45 MW project is the company’s first step in developing and integrating its upstream segment with 500 MW renewable energy projects by the end of 2025.

Restart Energy aims to buy or develop 100 MW projects in each of the next five years.

The Sărmășag park will have an annual energy production of 55 million kWh – enough to supply about 30,000 households with green energy.

  • ENGIE signed several energy offtake contracts with Amazon

ENGIE signed several energy offtake contracts with Amazon

ENGIE announces several energy offtake contracts with Amazon for a global renewable energy portfolio of wind and solar projects across the United States, Italy and France totaling 650 MW.

These projects align with Amazon’s goal to power its operations with 100% renewable energy by 2030 and reach net zero carbon by 2040.

In 2019, ENGIE was the main global seller of clean energy Corporate PPAs and signed over 2,000 MW mostly in the US but also in Europe, notably in Spain.

Amazon’s new renewable energy solar and wind projects with ENGIE represent 569 MW in Delaware, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.

They will supply Amazon with approximately 1,850 GWh of power and with the associated project renewable energy credits (REC’s) annually.

During construction, ENGIE will create approximately 300 jobs at each wind facility and 210 jobs at each solar facility. Projects are expected to reach commercial operation in 2021 through 2022.

In Europe, Amazon’s total contracts with ENGIE add up to 66 MW in Italy and 15 MW in France, and are the company’s first utility-scale renewable energy projects in each country.

Amazon will purchase renewable energy from two solar facilities located in Southern Italy and another in Southern France to power its European operations.

  • Vienna: Solar power meets the energy needs of all households in Josefstadt

Vienna: Solar power meets the energy needs of all households in Josefstadt

From January to the end of June 2020, Wien Energie generated more solar energy than ever before. Austria’s largest solar power generator increased its production by almost 60 percent year-on-year to 13,800 megawatt hours.

The increase is mainly due to the dedicated photovoltaic expansion programme of Wien Energie.

27 turbines with around 16 megawatts have been built since the beginning of the year alone or are currently in implementation.

But the weather also played a part in this spring: In particular, May 2020 lived up to its name as a sunny month, almost every day the facilities here ran at peak performance.

2030: Solar energy to power 250.000 households

Wien Energie currently operates around 230 photovoltaic plants, 27 of which are citizen solar power plants. The installed capacity is just under 50 megawatts.

This corresponds to an expanded area of around 750.000 square metres or more than 100 football pitches. More than 80 percent of the plants are currently on roof surfaces.

By 2030, Wien Energie aims to generate solar power with an output of 600 megawatts. This means that 250.000 households or two cities such as Graz and Linz can be supplied together.

The company will spend half a billion euros on this over the next ten years.

  • Enel Green Power awarded the contract for its first solar plant in India

Enel Green Power awarded the contract for its first solar plant in India

Enel Green Power has been awarded the right to sign a 25-year energy supply contract for a 420 MWsolar project in India.

Located in the State of Rajasthan, the project will be its first solar plant in the country.

The project was awarded under the 2 GW Ninth Tranche of the national solar tender issued by the government company Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited.

Construction works over 180 million US dollars

The construction of the solar plant, which is expected to start operations at the end of 2021, will involve an investment of approximately 180 million US dollars.

Under the energy supply contract to be assigned to EGP pursuant to today’s tender, the solar project delivers specified volumes of energy over a 25-year period to SECI.

The facility will be able to generate more than 750 GWh of renewable energy per year, enough to avoid the annual emission of around 681.600 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Enel Green Power, through EGP India, one of India’s leading renewable energy companies, owns and operates 172 MW of wind capacity producing around 340 GWh per year in Gujarat and Maharashtra.
