  • Restart Energy to invest $ 30 million in a 45 MW solar project in Romania

    Restart Energy to invest $ 30 million in a 45 MW solar project in Romania

    Restart Energy is to invest around 30 million dollars in developing a 45 MW solar project in Sărmășag village, Sălaj county.

    The purchased project is in the ”ready to build” phase, and the money will be invested in construction works. The company estimates that the park will start to function in Q1 2022.

    This 45 MW project is the company’s first step in developing and integrating its upstream segment with 500 MW renewable energy projects by the end of 2025.

    Restart Energy aims to buy or develop 100 MW projects in each of the next five years.

    The Sărmășag park will have an annual energy production of 55 million kWh – enough to supply about 30,000 households with green energy.

  • Enel Green Power built a record 3,106 MW of renewable capacity in 2020

    Enel Green Power built a record 3,106 MW of renewable capacity in 2020

    Enel Green Power has set a new record in 2020 by building 3,106 MW of new renewable capacity all over the world, 77 MW more (+2.5%) compared to the renewable capacity built in 2019.

    The new renewable capacity built by Enel Green Power in 2020 includes around 46 facilities, mainly wind (2,284 MW) and solar (803 MW).

    Furthermore, the company refurbished and repowered about 1.2 GW of plants in operation (250 MW wind, 847 MW hydro and 73 MW geothermal) over the course of the year.

    This new capacity is distributed as follows:

    • 508 MW in Europe, mainly in Spain;
    • 879 MW in Latin America, mainly in Brazil;
    • 1,386 MW in North America, mainly in the United States;
    • 333 MW in Africa, Asia and Oceania.

    Enel Green Power now manages around 49 GW of total renewable capacity and is the largest private renewable player at global level.

  • ENGIE signed several energy offtake contracts with Amazon

    ENGIE signed several energy offtake contracts with Amazon

    ENGIE announces several energy offtake contracts with Amazon for a global renewable energy portfolio of wind and solar projects across the United States, Italy and France totaling 650 MW.

    These projects align with Amazon’s goal to power its operations with 100% renewable energy by 2030 and reach net zero carbon by 2040.

    In 2019, ENGIE was the main global seller of clean energy Corporate PPAs and signed over 2,000 MW mostly in the US but also in Europe, notably in Spain.

    Amazon’s new renewable energy solar and wind projects with ENGIE represent 569 MW in Delaware, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia.

    They will supply Amazon with approximately 1,850 GWh of power and with the associated project renewable energy credits (REC’s) annually.

    During construction, ENGIE will create approximately 300 jobs at each wind facility and 210 jobs at each solar facility. Projects are expected to reach commercial operation in 2021 through 2022.

    In Europe, Amazon’s total contracts with ENGIE add up to 66 MW in Italy and 15 MW in France, and are the company’s first utility-scale renewable energy projects in each country.

    Amazon will purchase renewable energy from two solar facilities located in Southern Italy and another in Southern France to power its European operations.
